What is strategic planning and
 why is it important?

Strategic Planning: the process of defining the direction of an organization
and making decisions on how its resources will be used.

The Lael Agency will help to facilitate the strategic planning process.

We believe that the vision for a ministry is given by God to the Leader of the organization (the Pastor or non-profit Director). The Lael Strategic Planning Session facilitator works hand-in-hand with the Leader to clearly communicate the vision to all leaders involved. Understanding of the vision allows individuals to take ownership of their contribution. During a Lael Strategic Planning Session, these goals are obtained:

  • Development of a strategic plan with action steps and a timeline
  • Identification of needed resources

Let’s say, for example, three goals your ministry has for the next twelve months are to start a daycare, a prison ministry, and a radio program. A strategic planning session will identify the resources that the ministry already has available, suggest resources needed and get everyone on the same page with the action steps necessary to make the vision a reality. Often untapped resources within the ministry are discovered. It also puts into place accountability measures to ensure goals are achieved in a timely manner.

A strategic planning session can be a fun fellowship that is task-driven and a productive way to make the vision plain for others to see and run with the ministry towards its God-given assignments.

"And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it."  -Habakkuk 2:2
